 Atlanta-South, Georgia

Opened late in 1962 or in early 1963, this location billed itself on postcards as "Luxury in Atlanta!" For such an early Motor Lodge it was unusual because it featured a 5-story guest building along with traditional 2-story units. This Howard Johnson's was a precursor to today's modern highway hotels.

By the time of Phil's picture below from nearly the same spot as the postcard, the location had seen many changes, but the original high-rise structure was still standing.
