Opened late in
1962 or in early 1963, this location billed itself on postcards
as "Luxury in Atlanta!" For such an early Motor Lodge
it was unusual because it featured a 5-story guest building along
with traditional 2-story units. This Howard Johnson's was a precursor
to today's modern highway hotels. |

By the time of
Phil's picture below from nearly the same spot as the postcard,
the location had seen many changes, but the original high-rise
structure was still standing. |
